In the beginning…..

My first encounter with the PIE came one summers day in the tranquil setting of Doubtful sound NZ. My travelling companion, a huge advocate of the pie, insisted that I indulge in, what has proven to hold true, something delicious and nutricious.. and so my love affair of the pie had begun… over the coming month that I travelled I tried the pie almost everyday.. from those in truck stops / local stores to those in gourmet lunchrooms / restaurants and thus came my inspiration to bring the PIE to Holland.

Pies originated in medieval times, although some believe that even the ancient Egyptians indulged. Historically the pastry was used for preserving meat but in later times the pastry recipe was adapted to also be something extremely tasty and eatable.

Having worked in the Dutch meat industry for over ten years and with some modest experience as a cook I took to perfecting my first homemade pie recipe… I believe that in the last five years the Dutch taste buds are evolving and that the introduction of this tasty product to the market will see the PIE FLY in the Netherlands.

The POM-PIE is filled with only the best fresh natural ingredients and can serve as not only a snack but as a complete meal for the whole family… All my pies are home made and provide a real sense of comfort and satisfaction.
At the time of launch, January 2007, I will introduce a classic steak, onion and mushroom pie to the Market with the objective to launch an additional flavoured pie each month.
